Looks good, but junky in the details..May 17, 2010
By C. D. Holst From 10 feet away, this set looks pretty spiffy. When you've got mallet in hand, however, you'll feel all the corners cut in the manufacturing of this set. The mallet shafts have decorative grooves cut into them, but they're unfinished and splintery feeling. The shafts have little plastic widgets attached to the end that connects to the head. So, the weak point is the two little tiny screws that hold the breakable plastic widgets to the handles. When the plastic widgets do start to break, the mallet heads get very wobbly, further breaking the plastic widgets until they fall off.
A call to Eddie Bauer about the shoddy quality of the set led to an immediate response that it was a licensed product made by Sportcraft, and all quality complaints should go to them. Upon contacting Sportcraft, their unhelpful CSRs demanded a copy of the receipt for the set, which I've already lost, so they say that there is nothing they can do to help me. Now I'm left to engage in self help... perhaps to try screwing other mallet handles into these mallet heads...

Broken TrashJun 23, 2010
By T. Conyers The workmanship on this croquet set is terrible. The paint is not where it's supposed to be and one of the mallets has already broken. I hate this set and was really disappointed in the quality. Needless to say I won't be purchasing another Eddie Bauer croquet set!!

Save your money!Dec 10, 2010

"Forget the Jones's, I'm trying to keep up with our kids!"
We bought this set thinking that it would be decent since Eddie Bauer 'usually' puts out decent items. Nope. I wouldn't pay for it again. It's cheaply made, the routing for the pole to screw onto the mallet are not very well done. We had to finally glue the mallet head onto the pole in order to use it otherwise it would fall off. I gave this 2 stars only because the balls are of decent quality but that's about it. Save your money and buy a better quality set instead of this one...you'll be much happier!

Don't waste your money on this setMay 11, 2011
By maggie_b This croquet set is a complete waste of money. I was immediately disappointed when I saw the low quality of the bag - the cheapness of the zipper made me suspect that maybe Eddie Bauer products aren't the quality I thought they were. Then the first time we played, each of the three people playing had their mallet break right in two. Luckily there are six mallets, so we could finish the game, but the set is totally worthless. Additionally, the plastic balls are so soft they get dented when hit. I have no idea why Eddie Bauer let its name go on this junk. I'll never trust the Eddie Bauer name again.

Not the quality you would expect from Eddie BauerOct 12, 2010
By Brian L Cody I bought this set at target for about 50 bucks...the mallets are poorly constructed. there is wood putty "fill" on almost every mallet handle, almost all of the metal brackets on the head of the mallet have lost the little 1/4 inch screws that are supposed to hold them on. 2 of the mallet handles snapped off at the mallet head and one of the stakes splintered and broke as we were hammering it into the ground. the balls and wickets are fine, but what i bought the set for was the nice "looking" mallets and I am very disappointed with the quality. I'm going to buy a mallet from [...] and see how it feels. If that doesn't feel good in my hands im going to find some amish and have them make me a set.
